It's 2 AM. Your English Bulldog just came out of her C-section. You've got 6 puppies, two of them aren't nursing, one is cold to the touch, and the dam is still coming out of anesthesia. If you don't have a controlled environment to put those puppies in right now, you're going to lose one before sunrise. The PetBrooder 90 is what's sitting on your whelping room shelf for that moment.

What the PetBrooder 90 Does

The PetBrooder 90 is a professional-grade puppy incubator and ICU unit that creates a precisely controlled thermal environment for newborn and compromised puppies. It combines temperature regulation, humidity control, and an integrated oxygen port in one unit — giving you the critical tools to support neonatal survival during the highest-risk window of a puppy's life: the first 72 hours.

Why Bully Breed Programs Need This

  • C-section litters — puppies can't thermoregulate coming out of anesthesia and need a warm, controlled space while the dam recovers
  • Singleton puppies — no littermates to huddle with, higher fading puppy risk, need external heat source for the full first week
  • Fading puppy syndrome — hypothermia is both a cause and a symptom; the incubator stabilizes temperature while you address the underlying issue
  • Premature or low birth weight puppies — need extended incubation beyond the first 72 hours
  • Dam rejection — puppies being tube-fed every 2 hours need a safe, warm place between feedings

The First 72 Hours — Protocol

  1. Hours 0–24: Set to 34–35°C (93–95°F). Puppies cannot shiver — they lose heat fast. Keep humidity tray filled.
  2. Hours 24–48: Maintain 32–33°C if puppies are nursing and gaining weight. Check weight every 8–12 hours.
  3. Hours 48–72: Reduce to 30–32°C if puppies are stable, nursing, and producing urine/stool.
  4. Oxygen support: If a puppy is gasping or lethargic, connect the Portable Oxygen Concentrator to the oxygen port at 0.5–1 L/min.

Frequently Asked Questions

What temperature for newborn puppies?

Start at 34–35°C (93–95°F) for the first 24 hours. Reduce gradually to 30°C by Day 3–4 if puppies are stable. Never let the incubator drop below 29°C for neonates in the first week.

Can I use it for a singleton puppy?

Absolutely — singletons are one of the highest-risk categories for fading puppy syndrome. Keep the singleton in the incubator between nursing sessions and monitor weight every 8 hours.

Do I need the oxygen concentrator separately?

Yes — the PetBrooder 90 has an oxygen port but does not include an oxygen source. Add the Portable Oxygen Concentrator from our Puppy Care collection. It connects directly to the port.

How do I clean it between litters?

Remove the interior tray and wipe all surfaces with a veterinary-grade disinfectant (Rescue, Virkon, or diluted bleach). Rinse thoroughly and air dry completely before the next litter. Never spray into the oxygen port.

Is there a larger version?

The PetBrooder 90 suits most bully breed litter sizes. For high-volume programs with large litters, call (713) 992-4822 to discuss what configuration makes sense.
